Picsart launches a creator monetization program

Picsart, an AI-powered design platform, is launching a creator monetization program, the company exclusively told TechCrunch. Unlike similar programs in the industry, Picsart’s creator monetization program is open to everyone — no waitlists, no minimum follower requirements.

After signing up, creators access a dashboard with active prompts and challenges. For instance, a campaign might task them with designing cute, fluffy creatures using Picsart Aura, the platform’s AI assistant that creates and animates images or videos from text or voice prompts. Picsart warns that basic AI-generated posts without real creative effort won’t yield strong engagement or payouts.

The move signals a significant shift for the company — from being a creative toolkit to becoming a platform where creators can actually make money. It’s a strategic play that could help Picsart both attract new talent and keep existing users invested in the ecosystem.

To submit, creators link their live social post URL, tag it per campaign rules, and describe their Picsart creation process via a quick form. Content posts straight to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or X. Earnings come from views, comments, shares, and reach, trackable on the dashboard with Stripe withdrawals available.

Picsart is an Armenian-founded cross-platform design and editing platform, founded in November 2011 by entrepreneur Hovhannes Avoyan alongside engineers Artavazd Mehrabyan and Mikayel Vardanyan. Wikipedia What began as a mobile photo editor has since grown into a comprehensive AI-powered creative suite. As of 2024, Picsart serves around 150 million monthly active users, and its apps have been downloaded over one billion times globally.

It reached unicorn status in 2021 with a valuation exceeding $1.5 billion and has seen rapid expansion, processing billions of edits annually through features like AI image generation and collaborative tools.

This monetization push follows closely on the heels of Picsart’s recently announced AI agent marketplace, which lets creators “hire” AI assistants to handle specific tasks — from resizing and remixing social content to editing product photos directly on Shopify.
